Thomas Adewumi University cut-off mark for all courses

Thomas Adewumi University, Oko-Irese is Nigeria’s first private university in Kwara State.

It requires candidates to meet a UTME cut-off before they can apply for Post‑UTME screening.

The official minimum cut-off mark for the 2025/2026 session is 160.

This aligns with JAMB’s minimum for universities and was confirmed by the university management.

Does the departmental cut-off differ by course?

No. TAU maintains a flat 160 cut-off for all courses, including Law, Engineering, Nursing Science, Physiotherapy, Accounting, and Software Engineering.

Candidates scoring 160 or higher in JAMB are eligible for any program.

Can I apply for Post‑UTME with 160 JAMB score?

Yes, if you scored 160 or above, you qualify to purchase the TAU Post‑UTME/DE form and participate in the screening process.

Your eligibility does not depend on your course choice, as TAU does not differentiate cut-off marks by department.

What are the Post‑UTME requirements?

To be eligible:

  • Minimum UTME score—160

  • First or second choice of the institution in JAMB

  • At least five (5) ‘O’Level credits, including English and Mathematics

  • UTME subject combination appropriate for your chosen course

You must meet these before applying and writing the Post‑UTME test.

How do I compute my TAU admission aggregate?

TAU uses an average of your UTME and Post‑UTME scores. For example:

  • UTME: 180

  • Post‑UTME: 140

  • Aggregate = (180 + 140) ÷ 2 = 160

Meeting both UTME and aggregate expectations increases your chances, even if departmental cut-offs are uniform.

What if my UTME score is above 160 but aggregate is low?

In that case:

  • A high Post‑UTME score can boost your average

  • If your overall aggregate falls below 160 despite scoring ≥160 in UTME, your application may be at risk during ranking

  • Aim for UTME + Post‑UTME ≥ 320 combined (e.g., 180 + 140) to maintain a strong aggregate

TAU will consider both to finalize admissions.

Does TAU accept second-choice candidates?

Yes. TAU accepts both first and second-choice candidates in JAMB.

If you listed TAU second, ensure your UTME score is ≥160 and you meet all screening criteria.

What can I do if I score below 160 in JAMB?

If your UTME score is below 160, admission to TAU is unlikely. Options include:

  • Retake UTME to improve your score

  • Consider other accredited universities with lower cut-offs

  • For now, TAU’s single threshold rule applies equally across all courses

There are no supplemental exceptions for departmental demands.
